Masterclass with Deborah Voigt
Tribute to Jane Paul-Hummel
NATS-Los Angeles is extremely pleased to announce the clinician for our Winter Symposium. World renowned singer and recitalist, soprano Deborah Voigt, will be our guest artist on Saturday, May 12, 2018. The newly refurbished Lansing Recital Hall in the Crowell Music Building at Biola University will be the setting for the day’s activities from 9:30am-5pm.
Beloved soprano Deborah Voigt is one of the world’s most versatile singers and endearing musical personalities. Thanks to the singular power and beauty of her voice, and her captivating stage presence, she is internationally revered for performances in the operas of Wagner, Strauss, Verdi, and more, besides serving as an active recitalist and exponent of Broadway standards and popular songs. She boasts an extensive discography and regularly appears—as both performer and host—in the Metropolitan Opera’s “The Met: Live in HD” series, which is transmitted live to movie theaters worldwide.
The day will include a video retrospective of some of her performances and career highlights, a tribute to Ms. Voigt’s long-time voice teacher, NATS-LA Emeritus member, Jane Paul-Hummel who'll be turning 90 years old in March, and, of course, a master class with Ms. Voigt as clinician. It should be a day to remember for all music-lovers who take advantage of this opportunity to see and hear a master musician at work sharing her vast expertise with students.
Bring a brown bag lunch as campus eateries will be closed on the day of our event.
