Darin Adams

Darin Adams is a rare blend of master artist, writer/composer, educator, and entrepreneurial leader. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in music in 1990, Darin spent several years as a sought-after baritone, appearing in opera, musical theater, and concerts throughout the U.S. and overseas. While in the Master of Music program at Indiana University for voice and stage direction, Darin also began developing software for music education, eventually founding Appcompanist, LLC, a music technology company that now serves over a half-million voice teachers, singers, and choral directors worldwide with the industry’s leading rep-learning, practice and accompaniment app.

As a composer and playwright, Darin has written and directed several new musical theater works, including Lost and Found, The Tale of Joshua Shepherd, Nick’s Lighthouse, The Champion, and Eli’s Rabbi reaching audiences of more than 30,000. Lost and Found is currently in the development stages for an Off-Broadway run and tour. He has served as Arts and Worship Director at a number of churches in California and New York, developing and leading contemporary worship bands; composing and arranging for choirs, orchestras and small ensembles; writing and directing theater works; and developing and producing large-scale, arts- related outreach events. For over a decade, Darin maintained a private voice studio in New York City, serving over 300 Broadway performers in shows including Wicked, Hamilton, Come From Away, Lion King, Aladdin, Mary Poppins, Jersey Boys and many others. He’s taught master-classes at several leading university voice programs, as well as serving as a guest teaching artist and judge at a number of international competitions and conventions.


Dr. Ryan Reithmeier

Dr. Ryan Reithmeier is a producer, baritone, and music educator, originally from northcentral Montana. He earned music and education degrees at Concordia College, Moorhead in Minnesota, and California State University, Fullerton before completing his Doctor of Musical Arts in vocal arts and opera at University of Southern California’s (USC) Thornton School of Music with highest honors, receiving the Opera Award upon graduation and serving as a faculty teaching assistant. During his time at USC, Dr. Reithmeier completed field work in music education, directing for the operatic stage, and arts leadership and entrepreneurship. Since arriving at OCSA in 2017, Dr. Reithmeier has overseen, produced, and directed numerous seasons of Classical Voice Conservatory opera productions, scenes programs, virtual projects, concerts, and international tours, as well as designing and implementing the conservatory pathways and curricula.

Dr. Reithmeier selects, coaches, and presents the Classical Voice "Bel Canto Singers," a select group of performers for whom he curates programs at local events and outreach opportunities. As part of his responsibilities Dr. Reithmeier has developed, taught for, and expanded the Patrick and Mary Dirk Scholarship Program, which provides need and merit-based tuition-free voice lessons, coaching and performance opportunities to students within the Classical Voice Conservatory. Additionally, Dr. Reithmeier has grown and developed an ongoing relationship with the Samueli Family Foundation and Murdy Foundation to augment and expand educational and performance opportunities for Classical Voice students in choral and opera performances. Most recently, Dr. Reithmeier forged collaborative relationships with the Metropolitan Opera EDU and the Parnassus Society in Orange County that have expanded the opportunities for students to learn about and perform in operas, as well as facilitating internship opportunities that contribute to growing them into future audiences, administrators, and artists.

In celebration of OCSA's 35th Anniversary, Dr. Reithmeier had the pleasure of leading 8 of OCSA's conservatories in Symphony of Dreams, a cross-disciplinary explorative gala concert of storytelling through opera, dance, and spoken word that celebrates the artist on a hero's journey and reimagines the dream of a life dedicated to the arts. Dr. Reithmeier has more than 23 years of experience as a classroom and private studio educator. He has taught in public and private settings and designed and implemented pathways and curricula in the vocal arts for K-12 through collegiate programs. His private students consistently earn high honors in adjudication and competitions. Students have gained acceptance to study in leading vocal arts studios at USC, the San Francisco Conservatory, Chapman University, the New School, and Arizona State University. They have also gone on to careers in music education and in the performing arts, as well as gaining acceptance in non-musical pathways to leading institutions.

As a singer Dr. Reithmeier has performed throughout Southern California in opera, concert work, and musical theatre. Highlights from recent seasons include co-producing and performing the Corporal in La fille du Régiment and the Bonze in Madama Butterfly with the Parnassus Society, performances as baritone soloist with the St. John's Cathedral Concert series in Orange, CA. Other recent highlights include Pacific Opera Project's critically acclaimed post-pandemic production of Leonard Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti, and performances of American Cabaret, a recital celebrating songs from the American continents. Dr. Reithmeier has performed more than 25 baritone roles in opera, oratorio, musical theatre, and operetta. Recent performances include Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem and Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis, the requiems of Duruflé and Faure. Other appearances with the Parnassus Society, Operetta Foundation, Opera a La Carte, Soka Performing Arts Center, and Kallisti Ensemble, which have been met with high acclaim. In addition, Dr. Reithmeier is a two-time winner of the Beverly Hills National Consortium Auditions, a winner of the NATS-LA Gwendolyn Roberts Auditions, and was a Western-Regional finalist in the NATS-AA competition.

A sought-after competition judge, he has served on the adjudication panel for the Los Angeles Music Center's Spotlight Awards, California Music Educators State Solo and Ensemble Festival, and National Association of Teachers of Singing Los Angeles Chapter Collegiate Auditions and Student Evaluation Program as well as regular invitations to adjudicate collegiate competitions and present master classes. From 2016 to 2023, Dr. Reithmeier served on the Executive Board of NATS-LA, the nation’s largest chapter of the National Association of the Teachers of Singing. Prior to coming to OCSA, Dr. Reithmeier served on the faculties of Azusa Pacific University and Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, Calif.
