Mezzo-soprano Erin Alford has been praised on the operatic stage for her “church-bell-clear voice.” In the 2019-20 season, Erin will sing the role of Nurse/A&R Rep in Orpheus with LA Opera Connects and join the LA Opera Chorus for La Bohème, Eurydice (world-premiere), and Roberto Devereux. Previously with LA Opera, Erin has sung the role of Angela in a touring Education production of The Wreck of the Miranda, stepped in as SATB Quartet for Moses (world-premiere), and has performed in two mainstage operas with the LA Opera Chorus. Favorite roles performed include Madame de Croissy in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites (CSULB Opera 2019), Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan tutte (Teatro Nuovo 2018), Sister Helen Prejean in Dead Man Walking (South Florida premiere, Miami Music Festival 2017), the title role in Chérubin (CSULB Opera 2017), Rebecca Nurse in The Crucible (MMF 2016), and Laura in Iolanta (Russian Opera Workshop 2015). Equally comfortable on the concert stage, Erin has sung Ravel’s Shéhérazade with the BCCM Symphony as winner of the 2017 Vocal Concerto Competition, as well as Alto Soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Bach’s Magnificat and Bach’s B Minor Mass. Erin received her Master of Music in Opera Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSULB in 2017, where she presented Jake Heggie’s Camille Claudel: Into the Fire with string quartet at her graduate recital with the composer in attendance, and eventually, joining her at the piano.
