Lyndia Johnson

Known as “MzLyndia” among singers, Lyndia Johnson has been a singing teacher/vocal coach in the music industry and in colleges and universities around the US for 25 years. From touring with artists to collaborating with producers and label executives, MzLyndia’s abilities to identify vocal talent, assist singers recovering from vocal illnesses and develop singers technically is highly respected.

She has served on the Board of Governors for the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and has been the direct vocal consultant for the GRAMMY Awards. Her relationship with the Recording Academy has been a long recognized and well-respected collaboration.

MzLyndia holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in voice and has advanced studies in vocal anatomy and physiology, vocal acoustics and comparative vocal pedagogy. MzLyndia has presented lectures and written research on the voice for the Pacific Voice/Speech Foundation UCLA Voice Conference, University of Illinois Chicago Hospital of Voice/Speech Therapy Conference, National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and the Gospel Music Association of America; and is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, National Association of Female Executives in Music and Entertainment and the National Association of Negro Musicians.

In 1995, MzLyndia founded Sterling Voice Coaching, a private vocal development studio which focuses on innovative vocal training for all singing styles and genres. Sterling Voice Coaching’s clientele consist of Pop, Rock, R&B, Gospel and Musical Theater artists.

“I believe the singer’s style does not have to be compromised to achieve great singing results,” MzLyndia said. “I founded Sterling Voice Coaching to provide singers with insightful, innovative vocal instruction that enhances singing, prevents vocal loss, promotes longevity and maintains a wonderful healthy instrument for the singer to enjoy for years.

Daniel Lincoln, Assistant Professor of Practice in Musical Theater, USC Thornton School of Music

Daniel Lincoln

Composer, conductor, songwriter/pianist, and vocalist Daniel Lincoln has enjoyed a multifaceted international career that has spanned the realms of opera, musical theatre, and commercial pop music. Daniel has played in the pit for Broadway musicals, conducted & music directed off-Broadway, regional, and touring productions, and is currently music supervising and orchestrating multiple productions in development for Broadway. He has worked for Broadway casting agencies such as Binder Casting, Telsey + Company, and Tara Rubin CSA. Daniel has taught at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and New York Film Academy’s Professional Conservatory of Musical Theatre, and is a panelist/reader/mentor for The Jonathan Larsen Grant and The National Endowment for the Arts Musical Theatre Songwriting Challenge.

As composer & lyricist, Daniel’s original musicals have been produced in New York, London, and regionally across the United States, as well as multiple productions as part of the writing team of Lincoln & Schein. He has also written music and lyrics for multiple movie musicals, including the award-wining musical short Plus One. He also regularly collaborates with commercial pop vocalists as vocal coach, producer/music supervisor, and songwriter. Daniel is a proud AFM Local 802 and Dramatist Guild Member, ASCAP Composer.

Jennifer Lin, Accompanist

Jennifer Lin is an American Music Director, pianist and composer. She was a student of the Yamaha Music Education System (YMES), the Junior Original Concert program, and University of California, Los Angeles.

She found her major introduction to the public at large when a recording of her inspirational improv performance at the TED conference in Oldsmar, Florida on February 27, 2004, was posted on TED.com in August 2006. She was 14 years old at the time.

She has performed for Oprah and The Daily Show, among others. On The Oprah Winfrey Show, she composed a piece on the spot with five random music notes that Oprah chose. Ms. Lin’s full resume may be found at jenlinmusic.com.
